Each property managed its own network, servers, and endpoints with minimal oversight from headquarters. When outages occurred — whether in guest Wi-Fi, point-of-sale systems, or reservation databases — the corporate IT team only learned about them after the fact, often through guest complaints or property manager calls. Initial Assessment Revealed a Patchwork of Monitoring Tools and Zero Central Oversight

We Deployed a Single Pane of Glass Using SolarWinds and Veeam with Custom Thresholds and Escalation Workflows
We implemented a central monitoring architecture anchored on SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor, integrated with Veeam Backup & Replication for visibility into data protection health. Each property was configured with a local collector appliance from SolarWinds, which aggregated data from firewalls, switches, servers, and virtualisation hosts — primarily running on HPE and VMware environments — and securely forwarded it to a central Orion instance hosted in a Singapore-based private cloud. We standardised discovery templates to automatically detect critical services, including Opera PMS, Microsoft Active Directory, and Cisco wireless controllers. Custom alert thresholds were defined per device type and role, eliminating false positives. Alerts were routed through a tiered escalation matrix: Level 1 to on-site staff, Level 2 to TYPENT’s NOC, and Level 3 to vendor support contracts where applicable. We also integrated Veeam ONE to correlate backup success rates with infrastructure health, flagging systems where backup jobs failed consecutively. All data was accessible through a single, role-based dashboard accessible to corporate IT and regional managers, with read-only access for property-level staff.
System Downtime Dropped by 74% Within Six Months, and Incident Response Time Halved
Within three months of deployment, the central dashboard detected and resolved 147 previously undetected issues — including failing RAID arrays, DHCP exhaustion, and unresponsive PMS services — before they caused outages. Mean time to detect (MTTD) dropped from 11.3 hours to under 28 minutes, and mean time to resolve (MTTR) fell from 5.6 hours to 2.1 hours. Guest Wi-Fi uptime improved from 92.4% to 99.1% across all sites. Over a 12-month period, the hotel group avoided an estimated SGD 218,000 in potential revenue loss due to system failures during high-occupancy weekends. Corporate IT now conducts weekly health reviews using dashboard exports, and monthly compliance reports are automatically generated for internal audit and PDPC data protection assessments.
